A twist on the typical green drink, this boosted green broth smoothie skips milk & added sugars for hidden veggies & a light, refreshing-not-bitter flavor.
BLEND: Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If your broth or vegetables aren’t frozen, you might want to add a couple cubes of ice to further chill the green broth smoothie to your liking. Best when freshly made as the color will darken after a night in the fridge.
The final flavor of the green broth smoothie will obviously depend on the flavor of your broth. I prefer to make these with chicken or pork broth as they’re more mild & to use a broth that isn’t strongly flavored.
I have tested this with both conventional boxed broths and with homemade, unsalted broth. The recipe works just fine with both, but using homemade and unsalted broth if you can will give you the most neutral flavored base.
You’ll get the best and most refreshing green broth smoothie if everything is chilled or even frozen. You can chop the veggies & fruits ahead of time and then freeze them in ready to go baggies for speedier mornings. If your blender can handle it and you like your green broth smoothies really cold, I recommend freezing your broth in ice trays so that you can add the frozen broth to your blender in cubes.
Start out with 50:50 broth to water if you’re feeling a little unsure about this whole green broth smoothie idea! Or you could add a smidge of banana for extra sweetness as counterbalance if you need it.
