Learn To Love Liver (or Where To Hide It)

The Ultimate Liver Hater's

Liver: it’s nutrient dense, packed with a bazillion vitamins and minerals. Ok, maybe not a bazillion, but close.

So what is there in liver that we’re supposed to love? How about this amazing list of Good Things:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin B 12
  • Vitamin C
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Selenium
  • Zinc

So… you better get ready to TRY to love liver. Because it’s full of all the amazing things our body needs. You want to love liver because it has amazing health benefits from all of those vitamins and minerals. Don’t believe me? Check out what Chris Kresser has to say on the subject of why liver is “nature’s most potent superfood” here.

Unfortunately, learning to love liver is kind of difficult for most people. It’s the Storybrook of the food world, proving that all (food) magic comes with a price. In this instance, the price is… well, taste. And texture. It’s going to take more than the Dark One to help some people get used to this shiz.

But there’s some good news! You don’t need to eat pounds of the stuff to get the benefits of some liver loving. We’re talking about 1/4 lb of liver per person, per week. Also? I’ve rounded up a bunch of recipes for you here that will help you begin to love liver, with everything from hidden liver meatballs to full on meals where liver is the out and proud star. Check them out below!

          1. They were broken in error with site maintenance. It’s a little tough to find the time to re address 4 year old content, but I’ve now come back through and completely re-written this from scratch with brand new links and recipes. Hope that helps!

  1. Your pictures are not links! Clicking on them only makes them larger–no recipes. 🙁 Please fix this, I want to learn to love liver.

    1. I’m aware – as I answered previously, this is an old post from 2014 that got broken in error when I launched my new website. That said, I’ve come back and completely re-written it now!

  2. I cannot get them to go anywhere past the photos. All it does is open the photo, and if I click a second time, it closes the photo?

    1. Like I answered previously, I’m afraid this post was broken in error when the site was relaunched. I didn’t exactly set it up with broken image links on purpose 😉 I’ve since gone through and completely re-written this post from scratch, so I hope that helps!
